about

A song inspired by the ending of a relationship. The events didn't exactly match the lyrics, but the discrepancies are minor and few.

lyrics

You told me last night that I couldn’t look you in the eye.
I have to admit that lately I’ve been living a lie.
On the day that we met I told you not to trust me.
Words like “forever” and “always” have meanings I can’t see.

(Chorus)
I’m nobody’s knight in shining armour,
that just doesn’t seem to be a part of my karma.
I’m nobody’s hero in the silence of the night;
I can’t say "Everything’s gonna be alright."

Last year I loved you more than I could believe
and now my feelings change colour like autumn leaves.
It’s nothing that you’ve said, it’s nothing that you’ve done.
You’ve always made my life brighter with laughter and good fun.

Chorus

From where I stand today, the problem seems to be
that the searchlight of your love made me flee.
Love has no room for secrets as our hearts briefly beat as one.
My fear of being known caused me to turn and run.

I understand music to be something that gets beneath the surface and speaks of clarity and authenticity. With the lyrics, I look for metaphors and parables that chime and occasionally gently nudge. I hope you enjoy. ... more
